15 August 2010: Evolving... (Part II)
As most of you probably noticed work on new material has always been a bit slow and the way it was released was quite experimental. It was very enlightening to do it that way, but it had also some downsides. Making small changes afterwards, just to fit it into the whole concept of the album, were impossible. We also never really finished work on deadlines, just pushing them farer away, so they really never were a clever idea in the first place. Art is never done, but there are rare moments where something feels completed and you better catch that moment. Pressure tends to distort things but you shouldn't be too lazy too (you won't if you have something to say).
For future releases I decided to keep things a bit simpler. No release dates, no deadlines, announcements only if the project is nearing completion. It needs a bit of discipline, but favors the potential fan more than other methods. Anticipation is only good if you keep the right time span, otherwise it turns to disinterest quite fast.
In Part III I'll be talking about the most vital aspects of a todays musician: social networking and communication.
